Inverse case flips each letter’s case—capitals become small, small letters become capitals—without touching spaces, digits, or punctuation. Handy when a draft was transformed once and you want the mirror image back.

How the conversion works
“Hello World” becomes “hELLO wORLD”. Letters that have no case pass through unchanged. The flip uses locale-independent Unicode casing so results stay consistent across browsers and do not depend on a visitor’s language settings. That predictability matters when you are debugging case-sensitive filters. Length usually stays the same, which makes inverse useful as a reversible transform in tests. Locale-independent casing keeps the flip consistent across browsers.
When inverse case helps
Developers sometimes invert case while hunting copy-paste errors or checking whether a UI preserves case through a pipeline. Writers rarely need it for finished prose, but it can rescue a block that was uppercased by mistake when you no longer have the original file open. QA scripts can flip fixtures to ensure UIs do not assume a single casing style. It is most useful for tests and recovery of mistyped casing, not for published prose.
Reversibility
Because inverse case is its own opposite, running it twice returns the original letter casing—yet Undo is still safer if you made other edits in between. If a character expands when uppercased (like ß), prefer Undo over a second inverse for that glyph. Characters that expand when uppercased (such as ß → SS) may not round-trip perfectly.
Common use cases
- Reversing an accidental caps-lock paste
- Testing case-sensitive filters
- Creating a mirrored sample for QA
- Quickly flipping a short code token
Frequently asked questions
Does inverse case change spaces?
No. Only letters swap case. Spacing and punctuation remain identical.
What if I run it twice?
You get the original letter casing back, assuming you did not edit the text in between.
How is ß handled?
Lowercase ß may expand to SS when uppercased by Unicode rules, so a round trip might not be perfect for that character.
Is anything stored after I close the tab?
No. The tool does not use localStorage for your text and does not send it anywhere.
